Ortavia is certainly one of the most insightful poets and brilliant writers I have encountered. I particularly appreciate the way she uses her faith and knowledge of scripture as a prism through which she can engage the existential experiences of young adults who must navigate the murky waters of religion, the influence of popular culture and how that informs our individual and collective expressions of our faith. I pray Ortavia, continues the work of Christ through her powerful gift; I am truly a fan.

I read that when we take time to record and journal our prayers and write down our thoughts, we give ourselves a gift to be opened over and over again. The style that we do this in has to be ours ALONE. Some write it in songs, some in novels and biographies. Ortavia J. Jackson has followed her own style and has penned it in her way. Her style is poetic, but not traditional. Her words don’t always rhyme, but have reason. Her poems could be sung, but they do not have music; they could be acted out on a grand stage, but as a soliloquy. Her words touch you to the core. If you have experienced them, you identify. If you have not had the experience, you sympathize. But whether through experience or empathy, you will be touched by every word read. Through these words, you will be carried up and down as trials and victories are expressed. More importantly, you will experience God’s faithfulness in difficult times and yet obtain a sense of comfort to see that you were not alone in your experience. God has blessed this young woman with the gift of writing and ministering these poems. Words have POWER, and she has been given the privilege to preserve hers in poems, and we are privileged to read them.

Ortavia Jackson, a virtuous woman, obedient woman who with the “pen of a ready writer”, is not ashamed to lift up the name of Jesus Christ. For a time such as this, the Word of God is becoming more alive in poetic form, floating through the atmosphere and setting the captives free. Ortavia, is “poetry in motion”, catapulting young adults (and others) into the next dimension in God. May he continue to bless her richly as He enlarges her territory through poetry.

“Wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you. That is most likely why God has called Ortavia Jackson to take on the monocle of Wisdom. This blessed woman of God possesses an anointed God given gift to use words and the Word to create spirit filled poems that brings hope and change to its reader. I have been a witness to the effectiveness of her poems on the youth, meeting them at their needs. Ortavia truly is an awesome giver who has a heart for people especially the youth. I have been truly blessed by her ministry, her awesome poems and her unbelievable flow. Families, friends, and people of all ages please experience Life by Wisdom, you won’t regret it!

I would like to personally thank you so very much for coming to empower us with words of wisdom. You really made the difference and for this I am grateful. Thank you for sharing with us your talents that God has so richly blessed you with.

First with the book design which is cute; then with the few poems I've read so far--I just don't want to read all tonight--because if I do the math I'll want more of that spiritual victual.  Your poems tease secular mammals into finding themselves with Christ--a great feat.

My beautiful black sista! I was once again blown away by your presence.  That Sunday will forever be embedded in my mind for years to come.  If you were nervous it was not noticeable at all.  Cornell and I just wanted to think you again for blessing us with your powerful words.  It meant a lot to us.  Take care and we hope to see you soon.

Ortavia Jackson is a remarkable woman. Her character speaks volumes to woman of all walks of life as a true woman of virtue. I am by far not being biased because she is one of my dearest friends, but I say this as she represents these things to me.

Ortavia Jackson is one who uses her gift of poetry to speak to the very heart of God. This book is definitely a reassurance that no matter what obstacle comes your way while traveling through this journey called, Life, God has already orchestrated your steps and as long as you have Him in your life, you are guaranteed to reach your destiny and achieve all that you desire.

Davida L. Jackson

Wisdom is her poetry alias, but that word seems to flow through her. Her words prove to be self-evident. She is blessed with the ability to warp minds with her poetic flow. This gift she possesses is ingenious and is heaven sent. I thank God for her.

Only poets with grand imaginations create great poetry. And Ortavia Jackson’s imagination is as far as the mind can reach. So I pray that she continues to reach beyond the stars and her blessings will continue to shine.
